Text 27 Jun 1 note 40 horse-related questions; ask away.

1. One fall that scared you. i was hitting polo balls in the indoor by myself (my trainer was in the barn area) on an Argentinian thoroughbred that was over 16h. i leaned over too far (if youve ever played polo you know that the taller the horse the harder it is to get the ball) he moved his head at the same time. i accidentally hit him in the nose with the mallet, and saw myself falling in slow motion :(

2. What’s a breed of horse you’ve never ridden but have always wanted to ride? lipizzaners! even though I’m not huge on dressage (the tests make me too nervous) they are beautiful and i feel are the most “gymnastic”

3. If given the opportunity would you breeze a race horse? of course! I have! it’s one of the best feelings

4. English or western saddles; why? English, only because when i was a child i was forced to ride western after already starting hunter lessons. i guess i don’t like being forced into things, so i opted to steer more towards English. (i do enjoy a good western ride every now and again though)

5. In your opinion which discipline has better tack; english or western? from my “gypsy/polak” heritage..WESTERN! why wouldn’t i want to wear a bunch of glitter and get on my horse! i like them both differently. i feel like western looks like its more fun in the ring, while English’s look more disciplined and sophisticated.

6. 5 biggest pet peeves of the horse world. 1) STUCK UP HORSE GIRLS! (MY horse.. fill in the blank.. i want to shoot them, especially if they have no idea what they are doing)

2) the drama, i feel like sometimes who you know determines your “place” in the community.

3) prices! why cant everything be free!

4) sickness :(

5) people who judge you before knowing anything about you. I watched a girl do a jumping course one day, while multiple other girls (who are jumpers) sat on the fence and made fun of her for “not knowing where she was going, etc” basically issues you have when youve never jumped before. they made fun of the girl so bad she got off her horse and walked away. little do they know i watched that same girl compete in dressage earlier in the year, she one everything. all she wanted to do was try a new style of riding. the “fence girls” made her feel like an idiot, when realistically she had an amazing bond with her horse, and was an excellent rider.
