Actually draw reins are used to improve a horses topline and muscle balance along his back and neck. A martingale is used for controlling a horses head from being thrown too high.
draw reins are also used to get your horses head into a disired position and hold it there, as you do have complete control over your horses head.
True that. BUT! you COULD use a german martingale.. it does about the same thing draw reins do.
